Step 4![]() |
Enter Your Details Having chosen your preferred template and collected together the information you want to use in your Web CV, you can now start to construct your Web CV. There is no specific order in which each section of the CV should be constructed. It is advisable however to work on one section at a time. To select the required section, click on the appropriate title under 'CV Elements' on the CV Home Page. Profile This is your personal profile and career objective. Instead of being written in either the first or third person it should be an impersonal statement. This is best achieved by using one or two titles with descriptions (or statements) listed as bullet points below; Example: Seeking a position in which to apply people skills experience with a technical background. Relevant Experience
The profile should always be succinct and brief; a career snapshot of you to gain the readers attention and interest. The 'Profile' must be factual and contain subjective information about your individual qualities that will encourage the reader to view your Web CV further, and encourage them to invite you to attend an interview. Avoid 'buzzwords' and jargon. Just Web CVs uses a 'Titles and Bullet Points' system to produce the best Profile. The Profile page will allow you to enter a new 'Profile Item'. This can have a 'Title' and 'Description / Bullet Point'. You can add just Titles, just Bullet Points, both or combinations of both. Use the 'Add' button to upload the Title and / or Description / Bullet Point. Once you have added your first Profile Item you will see it appear on this page. You can then 'Edit' the Title, Add a new Bullet Point (Add Point), Edit a Bullet Point and 'Delete' a Bullet Point from the data already entered. Further sections of Profile Details can also be added via the form at the bottom of the page. Key Skills This is a summary of the skills you posses that will be of relevance and interest to a prospective employer. The Key Skills page will allow you to enter a new 'Key Skill' item. This can have a Title and Description / Bullet Point. You can add just Titles, just Bullet Points, both or combinations of both. Use the 'Add' button to upload the 'Title' and / or 'Description / Bullet Point'. Once you have added your first Key Skill item you will see it appear on this page. You can then Edit the Title, Add a new Bullet Point (Add Point), Edit a Bullet Point and Delete a Bullet Point from the data already entered. Career History & Experience This is where you should enter a reverse chronological list of your work experience and achievements, including your current role. This can be your entire career history or limited to the more recent or relevant jobs. (Avoid career gaps if possible and be prepared to explain these at an interview). Just Web CVs allows you to enter your 'Achievements' and / or your 'Duties / Responsibilities' to your career history. It is worth remembering that employers and recruiters take particular notice of candidate's career achievements. Make the most of this section to 'sell' yourself. Example: BT General Telecommunications 06/1993 - 12/2005 General Manager View Achievements Technology Transformation
Change Management
Note, once you have entered multiple 'Career History & Experience' elements the list will sort itself by date with the most recent post at the top (a reverse chronological list). Use the 'Add' button to upload these details to your Web CV. Further information regarding the course can be added in the 'Course Details' box. Personal Details Full details of your name, date of birth and contact information can be loaded into the boxes in the first part of this section. It is not necessary to fill in all elements if you do not wish to do so. Ticking the 'Show On CV' box will make that particular item of information visible on the public version of your Web CV. By not ticking the box, that item of information will not be visible. Contact information appears on the 'Personal Details' page of your Web CV. It will also appear on all other pages of your Web CV in the contact section.
